Biking east from Mile 13.5 - shortly after crossing Rossmore Drive - you will be reminded that much of the eastern American River Parkway Bike Trail is built upon previously dredged land (photo left).

Not much later you will pass by the Nimbus Fish Hatchery (photo right) at the end of Nimbus Road.  The hatchery is well worth a visit when salmon are returning in the fall.

After a short section of Folsom Blvd you will take Iron Point Road, which parallels Highway 50 and passes by the Intel Plant and Folsom High School.  Ride the sidewalk on the east side of East Bidwell Street to Placerville Road.

Quiet and picturesque, Placerville Road is one of the nicest bicycling roads in this region.

To the east you will view the transmission towers (photo right) familiar to eastbound US-50 motorists.

Placerville Road (photo below) still retains much of the unspoiled, undeveloped appearance of years past; I fear this will change if Folsom expands south.

Turning left onto White Rock Road, the unspoiled view briefly continues up a short and easy climb.  Subsequently developments enveloping Latrobe Road will become visible.

After a short section of El Dorado Hills Blvd turn right onto Serrano Parkway.

You may avoid Serrano Parkway's 240' climb by continuing on El Dorado Hills Blvd to Harvard Way, turning right and continuing to Silva Valley Parkway.

As the introducer to this upscale residential community, Serrano Parkway (photos above & below) is nicely landscaped and offers a pleasant climb.

After a short descent off the Parkway crest you will turn left onto Silva Valley Parkway.  I always have enjoyed Silva Valley Parkway as it progresses toward Green Valley Road.

After a short section of Green Valley Road, you will arrive at the Rest Stop.  Then some nice downhills take you past several of Folsom Lake's earthen dams to East Natoma Street.  Shortly beyond Folsom City Hall turn right on Stafford Street and navigate to the bike paths which lead to Riley Street and Folsom's historic Truss Bridge (photo below).

Now westbound, enjoy biking along Lake Natoma and past Nimbus Dam (photo below).

After crossing the Hazel Avenue bridge, cruise along the American River Pkwy Bike Trail back to the ride start.
