After the American River Parkway Bike Trail, Rossmore Bar Park, and Rancho Cordova, enjoy the solitude of the Folsom South Canal (photo right).
Grant Line Road, with vineyards to the south (photo below), will take you to Sheldon.

Turn left on Wilton Road, cross the Cosumnes River, enjoy more vineyards (photo right), and bike south to Wilton and Dillard.
After a short stretch of Dillard Road, turn south onto Alta Mesa Road.
Before long, Rancho Seco can be seen to the east, and Mount Diablo can be seen to the west (photo below).

I have found real pleasure bicycling Alta Mesa and Dustin Roads (which are continuous), as well as Alpine, Mariposa, and Jack Tone Roads. Road surfaces generally are good, traffic is not bothersome, and productive agriculture almost continuously is present (photos below), more so as you progress further south.

Although most of the region is agricultural, some livestock are raised along these roads.

The roads to Stockton are lightly traveled throughout. However, starting with Mariposa Road, traffic on the roads to Modesto increases. Road quality suffers somewhat - although never badly - south of Escalon on McHenry Avenue. Overall, however, the roads on these routes are the best quality and safest of those on any of the Here To There rides.
